Soooooo good. Highly recommend the shrimp panang curry and the pad see ew. Not a huge fan of the kao soi, as the noodles are more ramen-style than what I'm usually accustomed to eating in Northern Thailand when there on holiday (that being said, I recognize that New Orleans east is not Thailand, and there may be difficulty sourcing authentic Kao soi noodles!). Eggplant was also stellar.

Note: The spice level is HIGH. Recommend going only one out of 5 peppers for spice level, even when you like things HOT. If you like just a little spice, consider going only half a pepper outta 5 -- or even zero and just ask for some dried chili you can add on to your liking.

Love that Kuhn Maa (Thai mum) is back in the kitchen cooking every time I go in to pick up my order. My favorite Thai place in New Orleans by far -- and right in my neighborhood too!

I read good reviews about this restaurant so chose it for a special lunch. Big mistake. Inside looks like a cheap diner. Pad Tai had goopy bbq type sauce and a couple of crumbled peanuts on the side. Worse I have ever had and the noodles were in a giant glob.
Glass noodles were acceptable but all the meat was sliced so thin it was anemic looking.
I complained to the waitress, she did nothing. Had it not been ridiculously expensive ( yep NO LUNCH menu) I would have not even bothered.
Lunch for two teas and 2 entrees
    ...42.00.
Anyone who is giving this restaurant good ratings needs to get out a little more

I'm updating my review. I know the wait is usually really long so the past few times I've ordered my food and picked it up to go. This basically solved all my problems with this place since I get very hangry sitting and waiting for my food and watching other people eat.

Since they take in phone orders, I've grown to really love this place. The phone orders usually take 30-45 minutes. The quality and portions are still really good in the to-go orders.

One big thing to note is that if you can't handle spicy, do not even think about going more than a level 1.

I like Thai food, but I don't eat it nearly enough. I had heard so much good stuff about Secret Thai that I knew I had to make a point of eating here when I found myself in Chalmette.

The place itself is small and it was pretty empty when I went a few hours after noon on a Saturday. It was storming, so that might have had something to do with such a light crowd. After sitting a while, the waitress came over and explained the "process". So, this is legit Thai food and as the waitress explained- spicy means that it's spicy and it isn't "dumbed down" (my words) for Americans. They have different levels of spice for most of the dishes. We started with the shumai and Tom Yum Soup (level 2) and I got the chicken fried rice, which was just chicken fried rice with no spice added (fine by me).

Shumai- these cute little dumplings were tasty and had a bit of a kick, but weren't overwhelming. They definitely had some spice, but they were flavorful and really good.

Tom Yum Soup- Hey now! Okay, this was level 2 and it did have some bite to it. I could handle it- I like spice, but I couldn't have gone any higher than 2. It wasn't so much a "burn" kind of spice as it was that gradual kind of heat that builds and can be dangerous if you aren't used to it. It was great, though and a really big serving for the price.

Chicken Fried Rice- HUGE serving! Wow, this could easily feed two people. It was delicious and what I imagine authentic fried rice to be. It didn't have a kick- it was just savory and good with big pieces of juicy chicken. This is probably what kids order when they eat here, but I enjoyed it and I would absolutely get this dish again. I had plenty to take home, and that always makes me happy.

All in all the experience here was great. Just a warning: everything here is cooked to order, so don't go if you're in a rush. There was no crowd when I went and it took about an hour to get my entree. If you like Thai food, give this place a shot.
